Trim video without uploading

Cut the start or the end of a video right in your browser. Your video never leaves your device, nothing is re-encoded, so there is no quality loss, and even large videos are trimmed in seconds. Works offline too.

How it works

When you choose a video, it is opened directly from your device's storage and shown with a timeline of thumbnails. Drag the handles, or type the times, to choose the part you want to keep.

Lossless (the default) doesn't re-encode anything: it copies the original video and sound data for the part you selected into a new file. The quality is exactly the same as the original, and it takes seconds even for a 1 GB video. For MP4 and MOV the cut is frame-accurate: the file keeps the few frames before your start that the video needs to play, and players skip them. Re-encode creates a brand-new MP4 with your browser's built-in video encoder (WebCodecs); it is only needed if some app can't play the lossless file.

Made for phone videos, screen recordings and clips

iPhone and Android videos

Cut the shaky start and the pocket-fumbling end of a phone video. The trimmed iPhone video stays a MOV with the original quality, rotation and sound, ready to share.

Screen recordings and meetings

Remove the first minutes of setup from a Zoom, Teams or OBS recording. Because nothing is re-encoded, a long recording is trimmed in seconds instead of minutes.

Clips for Discord, WhatsApp and social media

Keep only the moment that matters. A shorter video is also a smaller file; if it still needs to fit a size limit, compress it afterwards.

Private videos

Family videos, interviews, recordings from work: because nothing is uploaded, no one else ever sees them.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Trim Video Offline never uploads your video. The file is opened and cut inside your browser on your own phone or computer, and the trimmed video is saved straight back to your device. No server ever receives it.

How do I trim the start or end of a video?

Choose your video, then drag the left handle to where the video should start and the right handle to where it should end, or type the times. Press Play selection to check it, then Trim and download.

Does trimming reduce the video quality?

Not in Lossless mode, which is the default. The video is not re-encoded: the original picture and sound are copied as they are, only shorter. That is also why it takes seconds even for large files. Re-encode mode creates a new video and is only needed when an app can't play the lossless file.

Is the cut frame-accurate?

For MP4 and MOV videos, yes: the trimmed video starts and ends exactly where you chose, even in Lossless mode. The file keeps the few frames before your start that it needs to play without re-encoding, and players skip them. WebM and MKV can't hide those frames, so a lossless cut starts at the nearest keyframe before your start, and the app shows you exactly where; choose Re-encode for an exact start.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit the whole app is stored in your browser, so you can open it and trim videos without an internet connection. You can also install it to your home screen or desktop like an app.

Which formats and sizes are supported?

MP4, MOV (including iPhone videos), M4V, WebM and MKV up to 2 GB. In Lossless mode the trimmed video keeps the original format; Re-encode mode saves an MP4 (H.264 + AAC) that plays everywhere.

How do I trim an iPhone video on a computer?

Copy the MOV file to your computer, open it here, set the start and end, and download. The trimmed video stays a MOV with the original quality, rotation and sound. If your browser can't show a preview of an HEVC iPhone video, you can still type the start and end times and trim it losslessly.

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

It is free, with no watermark, no account and no sign-up.
